Reimbursement through your employer
If you want your treatment reimbursed, you can also have it covered through your employer, in addition to your health insurance. More and more employers are investing in the mental health of their employees.
Your employer benefits just as much from you feeling good about yourself as you do. Because when you feel good about yourself, you often enjoy your work more and are absent less. This makes you much more productive. Chances are your employer also wants mentally fit employees and is willing to support you in this. Often, funds have already been set aside for this, such as a development budget or an individual choice budget. This way, you can still get reimbursed for your psychological support.

Why no reimbursement through health insurance?
In the Netherlands, mental healthcare is only covered for serious, sometimes even life-threatening, problems. This results in extremely long waiting lists, even though people who desperately need help often can't wait that long. This can worsen symptoms, making recovery more difficult, and prolonging treatment.
